Former yokozuna Hakuho on Tuesday announced details of a greatly expanded version of his namesake tournament for children.
The 16th edition of the Hakuho Cup will take place on Feb. 7 and 8 in Tokyo and, along with girls being included after a break of several years, for the first time in the competition’s history there will be an adult division.
Expansion feels like a natural progression for a tournament that was created with the intention of promoting sumo.
