The Japanese World Cup Organizing Committee on Friday announced the details for changing the name of World Cup ticket holders following an agreement reached with FIFA to broaden the reasons for the change in Thursday’s FIFA ticketing sub-committee meeting.

The Japanese organizers also said that 50,000 out of the 150,000 undelivered tickets did arrive in Japan on Friday and the remaining 100,000 are expected to come on Saturday. With these arrivals, JAWOC said that the distribution of tickets at the venues on the day of the games slated for early in the tournament, especially with the June 1 games, are mostly likely to be avoided. These tickets will be delivered to the purchasers by domestic courier.

The reasons for the changes now include cases “reasonable in common sense that won’t allow you travel to attend the game” such as a business assignment or sudden illness.

The changes initially were limited only to unavoidable reasons such as death or serious illness of the holders. Some applications were made to FIFA during the initial application period by Feb. 15. But JAWOC constantly received inquiries and applications for changes, about 5,000 of them, after that and the Japanese officials were seeking a resolution for these people.

Those who wish to make the change need to call the JAWOC Ticket Center, a 24-hour taped-message service, at (03) 3287-1199 to receive an application form by fax.

Fill the form and send it to JAWOC together with two photocopies which can identify the original ticket holder and also the person who will actually attend the game, basically issued by public authorities. The address is: Attn: Change of Ticket Holders, JAWOC Ticket Center, Shin-Yurakucho Bldg. 3rd floor, 1-12-1 Yurakucho, Chiyouda-ku, Tokyo 100-0006. The date of the game to attend should be marked on the envelope. This arrangement is only for tickets sold by JAWOC.

The applicants then are required to take the photocopies of these three forms with them to their game.

Ideally, the applications should be done before the day of the game, however, in exceptional circumstances requests for name changes will be accepted on game days. In case of last-minute emergencies, ticket-holders may fill out the form and take it with the two other forms that identifies the original holder and the new holder to the game.
